Senior Technology Consultant
Job Description
Advanced Network Solutions is looking for a full-time Senior Technology Consultant for their Nashville office. This position is a multi-faceted and dynamic opportunity for a hands-on technical engineer that is looking to be involved in all aspects of technology – from design to project management to implementation. The position involves resource and time management for projects, system analysis, system consultation and design for new clients, and third tier support for other engineering staff. The individual should be a detail and process oriented person, as well as possess solid problem solving skills. In addition, the Senior Technology Consultant must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to keep our clients, management, and other engineers informed.
The ideal candidate must have the ability to work well as part of a team and must possess superior communication; excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are a must. The ideal candidate will also be a self-starter with the ability to find his/her own solutions to problems and understand the interdependencies between applications/systems.
An overall understanding of quality client service, experience working in a diverse team, a strong business acumen and the instinct to think and act strategically are essential for advancement within our organization.

Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience in technical support with strong technical problem diagnosis skills
- A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field is desired
- Industry Certifications, such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and/or VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- Design, installation and ongoing support of Microsoft Windows Server technologies
- Network design, planning, implementation, and maintenance
- Business Internet connectivity, WAN technologies, remote access and VPN configuration
- Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, including the ability to logically think through a situation and determine the best route for success and to know when to stop and call for support
- Understanding of routing concepts, network and port address translation, firewall rules
- Network security management and support
- Regularly scheduled preventative maintenance and network support
- Business IT planning and consulting
- Ideally having experience working on all aspects of a project; design, implementation and support
- Works on projects that will require excess of 40+ hours a week and after hours work, including out of town projects
- Usually working high-end projects and working with new technologies
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to all management levels within customer organization, including creating and maintaining client technical documentation and standard operating procedures
- Capable of assuming sales engineer role to provide assistance throughout the sales process
- Ability to listen carefully and extract key issues
- Teaching, training, coaching and mentoring skills
- Works well in diverse environments
- Skilled at managing end user expectations
- Experience with the following core technologies:
- Microsoft Office applications
- Windows Operating Systems
- Windows Server technologies
- Active Directory
- Terminal Servers
- Virtualization design and implementation (VMware preferred), including SAN experience
- Firewalls/VPNs (Juniper Netscreen a plus)
- Advanced network troubleshooting
- Hardware / software troubleshooting
- IP Telephony knowledge is an asset (Cisco, ShoreTel)
